First you must submit an application for the issue or renewal of a temporary residence permit via the electronic Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS). - the employment contract; or
- the undertaking of the employer to employ you according to the employment contract;
4. If you are a member or the manager of a private legal person (entity) that is engaged in the Republic of Lithuania in an activity registered in the documents of incorporation, and the purpose of their arrival to the Republic of Lithuania is working in the company concerned:
4.1 If less than one year has passed from the incorporation of the entity: documents, confirming that the entity is engaged in the Republic of Lithuania in the activities specified in its incorporation documents;
- the documents about the entity’s location (e.g. the premises lease agreement);
- the contracts (no more than 10) confirming the economic commercial activities of the company;
- operating permits, in case the entity’s operations are subject to respective permits or licences;
- the documents supporting the entity’s economic operations and events (e.g. statement from the entity's bank account, invoices, cash proceeds and expense orders);
- journals of the entity's economic operations and economic events (e.g. General Ledger, operation journal).
4.2 your employment contract;

5. If you work or intend to engage in another legitimate activity, including individual activity within the meaning of the Law on Income Tax of Individuals of the Republic of Lithuania.
Individual activity shall mean any independent activity in pursuit whereof an individual aims at deriving income or any other economic benefit over a continuous period:
1) independent commercial or industrial activities of any nature, except sales and/or rent of items that are by their nature considered immovable, also transaction in financial instruments;
2) independent creative, professional activities and other similar independent activities;
3) independent sports activities;
4) independent performing activities.
o the relevant supporting documents (e.g., the documents confirming that you are or intend to engage in a performer, sporting or religious activity, or volunteering as a participant in a volunteer program recognized by the European Union or its Member States, a journalist accreditation card, a document confirming that you conduct or intend to conduct joint government programs with foreign countries, business certificate);

Regulated professions – lawyer; obstetrician; architect; teacher; bankruptcy administrator; general nurse; biomedical technician; dental hygienist; dental technician; dietician; ergotherapist; guide; dental assistant; advanced nurse; physiotherapist; speech therapist; masseur; physician; school psychologist; teacher; dentist; patent attorney; private detective; profession teacher; restorer, restructuring administrator, social worker, social pedagogue, construction engineer, surdopedagogue, special needs picture, property and business valuer, pharmacist, pharmatechnician, veterinary assistant, veterinary doctor.
o the document certifying that you comply with the terms set forth in the legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania to engage in regulated professional activity;
7. a document certifying possession of sufficient subsistence means;
Means of subsistence is a minimum monthly wages. The funds in possession must be sufficient for the period of validity of the residence permit applied for, or at least one year.
8. document on the place of residence;
a document certifying that you possess residential premises in which you intend to declare your place of residence, provided that the residential area per each adult person who has declared the place of residence at it would not be less than seven square metres:
- An undertaking of a natural person certified by a notary of the Republic of Lithuania, an elder of the eldership or an authorised civil servant authorised by the Migration Department to provide you with suitable residential premises at which you will declare your place of residence and which will meet the requirements for residential area per person for the period of validity of the temporary residence permit; or
- An undertaking of a natural person certified by a notary of the Republic of Lithuania, an elder of the eldership or an authorised civil servant authorised by the Migration Department to provide you with suitable residential premises at which you will declare your place of residence and which will meet the requirements for residential area per person for the period of validity of the temporary residence permit; or;
No documents regarding a suitable place of residence is required, if you own a residential premise, or you have concluded with a natural or a legal person under a lease or loan for use contract for a period not shorter than the validity of the temporary residence permit, and registered with the SE Centre of Registers (Register of Immovable Property).
9. a written statement that you have no conviction record, or

The certificates issued by competent authorities of foreign states certifying that you had been convicted in the states concerned, and issued not earlier than six months before the date of application for the residence permit, translated into Lithuanian as well as legalized and/or certified (Apostille) when necessary. The certificate must state when and for what offence you have been convicted, what sentence was imposed upon you and whether it was served.
10. Document on health insurance, (insurance amount – EUR 6,000);
The health insurance must meet the following requirements:
- The insurance must cover the cost of essential medical care as defined by the Law on the Health System of the Republic of Lithuania and the costs that you may incur as a result of your return to the foreign country for health reasons (transportation, including escorting your personal health care professional (s)); and
- the insurance must be valid for the period of validity of the residence permit applied for, or at least one year.
No health insurance is required, where you (will) pay social insurance contributions of established amount.
11. Document certifying legitimate stay in the country.
For example, visa or residences permit.
You will be required to pay a state charge for the acceptance, examination or the application for the issuance/renewal of the temporary residence permit, passing the decisions and the issue of the temporary residence permits:
- In a general procedure – 120 Eur;
- In an urgent procedure – 240 Eur.

How can I declare place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania?

You can declare your place of residence by choosing one of the following options:
- Upon arrival to the Migration Department at the pre-booked time of your visit for submitting the originals of the documents attached to the application for issue of a temporary residence permit and your biometric data;
- At eldership or municipality within 1 month after collection of the temporary residence permit.
If you have completed an application form for issue of temporary residence permit and wish to declare your place of residence at the Migration Department, then upon arrival at the pre-booked time of your visit for submitting the originals of the documents attached to the application for issue of a temporary residence permit and your biometric data, you have to bring along with you a completed declaration form for the place of residence, supported by the documents, proving hat you have an accommodation in which you intend to declare your place of residence, except for the cases, when possessing the accommodation on the right of private ownership or you use the accommodation on a rent or lease basis, if the relevant contract is registered at the SE Centre of Registers.

For what period I will be issued the temporary residence permit?

Your temporary residence permit will be issued to you for three years or, if your employment or other legal activity in the Republic of Lithuania is shorter than three years, for the duration of your employment or other legal activity in the Republic of Lithuania and for a further three months’ period.
May I bring over my family members?

You may bring your family members with you and they have to immediately apply for a temporary residence permit together with you. Family members mean the spouse or the person with whom a registered partnership has been contracted, minor children/adopted children that are dependent upon you, also your dependent parents if they who have been dependent for at least one year and are unable to use the support of other family members residing in a foreign state.
When do I have to apply regarding the renewal of the temporary residence permit?

An application for a renewal of a temporary residence permit must be submitted within at least two months and an application for the renewal of a temporary residence permit in an urgent procedure shall be submitted within at least one month before the expiry of the temporary residence permit, but not earlier than four months.
