What documents shall be submitted to receive a multiple entry national visa?

An alien shall be required to pay a consular fee of EUR 60 for the acceptance and examination of documents for a visa. The consular fee shall be charged by the Lithuanian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad.

If the visa is issued in the Republic of Lithuania, a state fee of EUR 60 shall be charged for the acceptance and examination of application for a visa, resolution on granting a visa or refusal of a visa.

To obtain a multi-entry national visa, an alien must submit:

  1. a valid travel document, its validity period being at least three (3) months longer than the validity period of the requested visa. The document must have at least two (2) blank pages and must be issued within the previous ten (10) years;
  2. an application filled out using electronic means for filling applications (you can fill out the application here);
  3. one (1) 35 x 45 mm colour photo reflecting the person’s age;
  4. evidence of medical insurance (the alien’s medical insurance must guarantee payment of all emergency medical costs as well as expenditures which may arise in relation with the alien’s return to a foreign country due to health reasons (such as transportation, including accompaniment of a healthcare specialist(s)) as defined in the Republic of Lithuania Law on Health System, covering the entire period of the alien’s stay in the Republic of Lithuania. In addition, it must be valid in all participant states of the Schengen Area. The amount of insurance must not be less than EUR 30,000;
  5. a document certifying that the alien has sufficient funds and (or) receives a regular income required to live in the Republic of Lithuania as well as has a sufficient amount of funds required to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart. For the adult alien specified in Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 2 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”) and a minor alien, sufficient means of subsistence equal to 0.5 of the minimum monthly wage per month; for other aliens, sufficient means of subsistence equal to one (1) minimum monthly wage per month. The sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to one (1) minimum monthly wage. These documents must be translated to the Lithuanian language or another language specified by a civil servant of the Visa Office;
  6. In Parts 1–8, 13-17 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), an application for mediation electronically submitted by the Lithuanian institution, company, organization or natural person hosting the alien (the Visa Office must be provided with the mediation application number). The application for mediation should be submitted through the Information System of Public Services related to issuance, consultation, provision of personal and other documents to citizens of the Republic of Lithuania and aliens (EPIS): https://epis.vrm.lt. EPIS shall also be available at the Migration Department’s website (www.migracija.lt): Electronic services > EPIS (Information System of Public Services related to issuance, consultation, provision of personal and other documents to citizens of the Republic of Lithuania and aliens) > EPIS (logging to the EPIS Services Portal). The application for mediation form can be found at www.migracija.lt: Electronic services > Application forms submitted to the Migration Department and migration divisions of local police commissariats > Application for mediation;
  7. In the case specified in Part 5 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a copy of a sports contract approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts or copies of documents proving that he or she is indeed a member of the alien’s family approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  8. In the case specified in Part 3 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), copies of a labour contract or author’s contract signed with a science and research institution registered in the Republic of Lithuania, approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts or copies of documents proving that he or she is indeed a member of the alien’s family approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  9. In the case specified in Part 4 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), copies of documents proving that he or she is indeed a member of the family of the alien who arrives to the Republic of Lithuania to implement joint government programs with foreign countries as a teacher or conduct scientific researches as a researcher, approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  10. In the case specified in Part 6 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a copy of a labour permit issued to the alien by the Lithuanian Labour Exchange under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  11. In the case specified in Part 15 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a copy of a permit for seasonal work issued to the alien by the Lithuanian Labour Exchange under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  12. In the case specified in Part 16 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a copy of a permit for seasonal work issued to the alien by the Lithuanian Labour Exchange under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  13. In the case specified in Part 10 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), the company establishment (no submission of a document about the registration of a legal entity in the Register of Legal Entities to the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipėda Migration Office is required) or acquisition documents as well as documents confirming that the size of the company’s equity capital (in the case of a non-stock company or private limited company – assets) is at least EUR 28,000 (e.g. the company’s interim financial report (balance sheet or statement of changes in equity)), documents certifying that the alien is indeed the company participant and his or her funds or assets invested in the company amount to at least EUR 14,000, or documents certifying that the alien is the company’s chief executive and a document confirming that the purpose of his or her arrival is work at that particular company;
  14. In the case specified in Part 7 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a document certifying that the alien has been added to the list of the ship’s crew and a copy of the alien’s labour contract approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  15. In the case specified in Part 8 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a document certifying that the alien has been added to the list of the ship’s crew, a copy of a contract on the basis of which the ship is being repaired, approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts and (or) a copy of the alien’s labour contract approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  16. In the case specified in Part 9 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a document certifying that the alien has been accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania;
  17. In the case specified in Part 13 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a copy of labour contract approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts or the employer’s obligation to employ the alien, which specifies the alien’s workplace, work function, wage and scheduled beginning of work as well as a copy of a document certifying the alien’s qualification approved in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
  18. In the case specified in Part 14 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a mediation application for multi-entry national visa issued by the inviting Lithuanian establishment, company or organisation must specify that the alien sending company has been carrying out the activities referred to in its establishment documents for at least six (6) months and the alien has been working for the sending company at least for the past three (3) months, information about the work function which the alien will perform in the Lithuanian company, the wage that will be paid to the alien during the period of his or her business trip to the Republic of Lithuania as well as the scheduled beginning of work for the Lithuanian company; a contract for provision of services or performance of work signed between the sending company and the company located in the Republic of Lithuania (if the contract was not originally made in the Lithuanian language, it must be submitted together with a translation to the Lithuanian language certified by a translator’s signature); the sending company’s registration certificate or extract from a foreign state register (legalized or apostilized in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts, except in cases where, according to the current legislation of the Republic of Lithuania, international treaties and legislative acts of the European Union, the document should not be legalized or apostilized and accompanied by a translation to the Lithuanian language certified by a translator’s signature); the alien’s labour contract signed with the sending company, accompanied by a translation to the Lithuanian language certified by a translator’s signature; a document issued by a competent authority of a foreign state, which confirms that at least in the last three (3) months the alien has been and during the period of his or her business trip to the Republic of Lithuania shall remain insured under a social insurance program of that foreign state (legalized or apostilized in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts, except in cases where, according to the current legislation of the Republic of Lithuania, international treaties and legislative acts of the European Union, the document should not be legalized or apostilized and accompanied by a translation to the Lithuanian language certified by a translator’s signature); a document certifying the alien’s qualification (legalized or apostilized) in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts, except in cases where, according to the current legislation of the Republic of Lithuania, international treaties and legislative acts of the European Union, the document should not be legalized or apostilized) and accompanied by a translation to the Lithuanian language certified by a translator’s signature. If the alien’s profession is not regulated in the Republic of Lithuania but requires a higher education, the alien must submit a recommendation of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education regarding the assessment of foreign qualifications (based on this recommendation, the Visa Office may request from the alien to submit a resolution of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education on the academic recognition of foreign qualifications (Decree of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania No. 212 of 29 February 2012 “On approval of the procedure for recognition of education and qualifications related to higher education and acquired under educational programs of foreign state and international organizations”); If the alien’s profession is regulated in the Republic of Lithuania but requires a higher education, the alien must submit a decision of a competent authority on the recognition of professional qualifications (Decree of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania No. 1069 of 14 September 2011 “On recognition of regulated professional qualifications of third-country nationals”); a letter from a territorial division of the State Labour Inspectorate at the dispatched employee’s work location certifying that the prescribed notification about the dispatched employee has been submitted and registered by the Minister of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania;
  19. In the case specified in Part 11 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), a document confirming that the alien has applied for the issuance or replacement of a permit to reside in the Republic of Lithuania (no submission of this document to the Migration Department, Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipėda Migration Office is required);
  20. In the cases specified in Part 12 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), documents confirming the circumstances which prevent the alien from leaving the Republic of Lithuania;
  21. In the case specified in Part 17 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), documents specified in the international agreement or, in the absence thereof, documents confirming the purpose and conditions of the alien’s arrival specified in the international agreement;
  22. In the case specified in Part 18 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), an application for mediation electronically submitted by a legal entity included in the Approved Entities List;
  23. In the case specified in Part 19 (see “A multi-entry national visa (D) may be issued”), documents certifying the alien’s long-term stay in the Republic of Lithuania;

Fingerprints of all aliens submitting applications for national visa shall be captured and recorded.

An authorized civil servant of the Visa Office shall be entitled to ask for additional documents supporting the data specified in the application for national visa.

NOTES: Please note that as long as the visa is not revoked (i.e. as long as the visa remains valid), the inviting Lithuanian establishment, company or organisation shall remain committed to covering expenses related to the alien’s return to the country to which he or she has the right to depart, if necessary.
