Which documents must be submitted by the citizen of European Union Member State for the issuance of a permit confirming his/her right to temporarily live in the Republic of Lithuania?

Information and documents which must be submitted by a citizen of an EU member state applying for the issuance of a certificate confirming his right to reside in the Republic of Lithuania:

  1. When (s)he is an employee or a self-employed person (subparagraph 1 of paragraph 1 of Article 101 of the Law); 
  2. When EU citizen sustains the status of employee or self-employed person (subparagraph 1 of paragraph 1 of Article 101 of the Law); 
  3. When (s)he is in possession of adequate means of subsistence for himself/herself and for his/her family members, where the family members arrive together with him/her or join him/her,  for residence in the Republic of Lithuania and has a valid document evidencing possession of medical insurance (subparagraph 2 of paragraph 1 of Article 101 of the Law); 
  4. When (s)he is a student, pupil, intern, participant in in-service training or vocational training courses, is in possession of  adequate means of subsistence for himself/herself and for his/her family members, where the family members arrive together with him/her or join him/her,  for residence in the Republic of Lithuania and has a valid document evidencing possession of medical insurance (subparagraph 3 of paragraph 1 of Article 101 of the Law);
  5. Where (s)he is a family member of the citizen of the EU Member State who arrives together with him/her or joins him/her (subparagraph 4 of paragraph 1 of Article 101 of the Law); 
  6. For a child (adopted child) of an EU citizen, and one of the parents that guard him/her, indicated in subparagraph 5 of paragraph 1 of Article 1011.

Documents must be submitted to a Migration Unit of the Territorial Police Office in whose service citizen of European Union Member State, family member or another person has declared or intends to declare a place of residence or is seeking to be considered as a person without a place of residence.
