I want to get a visa
I am a family member of a teacher, researcher, athlete or coach
You can get a national visa and come with a family member who is applying for a national visa, already has a national visa or a temporary residence permit when your family member
• arrives in Lithuania to work as a teacher or researcher with a copyright contract with a science and study institution registered in the Republic of Lithuania;
• arrives to Lithuania to implement government programmes with foreign countries as a teacher or research;
• is an athlete involved in high-skill sports, or a coach coming to Lithuania to engage in sports activities.
The following persons are considered family members:
• spouse;
• a partner with whom a partnership agreement is concluded in accordance with the laws of the country where such an agreement was concluded;
• minor child (adopted child), unmarried and dependent on parents
• your dependent parents, if you support them for at least 1 year and they cannot benefit from the support of other family members living in a foreign country.
To get a national visa you must electronically via the Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS) fill-out the application to issue the national visa and include digital copies of the documents being added to this application. After filling-out the request and booking the visitation time you must personally address in regards to the issuance of national visa and submit the biometric data, as well as original documents. Digital copies of these documents shall be added to the application:
1. Valid travel document (passport) that meets the following requirements:
• must be issued in the last ten years;
• must contain at least two blank pages;
• travel document validity term must be at least 3 months longer than the requested visa validity term.
2. A document proving that you are a family member.
These documents may be submitted in English or a certified-by-the-interpreter’s-signature translation to English from a different language may be submitted (the authenticity of copies of documents must be certified by a person or institution with the right to certify the authenticity of copies of documents).
3. Document about sufficient means of subsistence (e. g., employment contract, bank account statement);
The subsistence amount is 1 minimum monthly salary per month, and for a minor alien – 0.5 minimum monthly salary for one month, the amount for return to the country of origin or a foreign country to which you are entitled to travel, the amount of funds – 1 minimum monthly salary.
Funds or received regular income must be sufficient to live in Lithuania for the entire period of validity of the visa. These documents may be submitted in English or a certified-by-the-interpreter’s-signature translation to English from a different language may be submitted.
If an undertaking by a natural person to support you is submitted (signature of the obligor must be notarized or signed in the presence of an employee of the Migration Department or an external service provider when applying for a visa) - documents must be submitted confirming your family or kinship ties with the person submitting the undertaking, as well as documents proving that the natural person has sufficient funds and/or will legally receive a regular income necessary to maintain you in Lithuania for the entire period of validity of the national visa, and will have the funds to cover the costs associated with your return to your country of origin or to a foreign country to which you have the right to go.
4. Health insurance document, valid during the stay in Lithuania and in all the Schengen countries.
Health insurance must guarantee the reimbursement of the necessary medical expenses, as defined in the Republic of Lithuania Law on Health, and expenses that may arise due to the return of the alien to a foreign state for health reasons (transportation, including escort of a personal health care specialist (specialists)). The sum insured must be at least EUR 30,000.
If the insurance company refuses to provide you with insurance services, you can submit your commitment to pay the costs of health care provided to you during your stay in Lithuania with at least 3 letters from insurance companies confirming that you are refused health insurance services due to your old age or health condition. A person related to you by family or kinship ties can also undertake to support you (signature of the obligor must be notarized or signed in the presence of an employee of the Migration Department or an external service provider when applying for a visa).
You have to pay a fee – EUR 140.
If you are exempt from this fee in the cases provided by law, you must provide documents confirming these circumstances.
For the issue of a national visa, you must apply to:
• an external service provider if you are abroad;
• the Migration Department if you are legally in Lithuania.

Important:
• the national visa is issued for a maximum of 1 year;
