In 2022 the requirement for subsistence to be declared by aliens increases

Please be informed that from 1 January 2022 the amount of subsistence to be declared by aliens increases with the approval of a higher amount of the minimum monthly wage (EUR 730 before taxes, and the minimum hourly rate - EUR 4.47).

The amount of subsistence in the Republic of Lithuania that may be considered sufficient to live in the Republic of Lithuania for one calendar month for an alien applying for a national visa or residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania is:

  • For an alien intending to study, participate in vocational training, work on probation, improve his/her qualification - EUR 365 (0.5 MMW);
  • For an alien under the age of 18 - EUR 365 (0.5 MMW);
  • For other aliens – EUR 730 (1 MMW).

It should be noted that an alien applying for a national visa must also submit a document certifying that he/she has sufficient funds to return to the country of origin or the foreign country to which he/she is entitled to go. Sufficient amount for return is 1 MMW. 

The new amounts for subsistence to be declared by aliens apply to aliens who apply for a residence permit or visa in 2022. Applications submitted in 2021 will be examined by applying the amount of subsistence to be declared valid in 2021 (MMW - EUR 642, MHR - EUR 3.93).
