Easement of the terms for temporary residence permits issue for citizens of Australia, Japan, the USA, Canada, New Zealand and South Korea
The amendments to the Law on Legal Status of Aliens of the Republic of Lithuania effective as of 1 September 2019 provided for specifically favourable terms for issuing temporary residence permits for citizens of Australia, Japan, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand and South Korea working, creating or engaged in other meaningful activities in the Republic of Lithuania.
The citizens of the states concerned will be issued a permit of residence in the Republic of Lithuania, provided they:
1) work according to an employment contract or have a binding job offer;
2) are a member or the manager of a private legal person that is engaged in the Republic of Lithuania in an activity registered in the documents of incorporation, and the purpose of their arrival to the Republic of Lithuania is working in the company concerned;
3) engage in other legitimate activities including individual activities, as it is defined in the Law on Income Tax of Individuals of the Republic of Lithuania.
The citizens of Australia, Japan, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand and South Korea may be immediately accompanied by their family members.
Citizens of the countries concerned and their family members are welcome to submit their documents regarding a residence permit at any territorial branch of the Migration department servicing aliens, irrespective of their intended place of residence.

The residence permits for citizens of Australia, Japan, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand and South Korea and their family members will be issued within three months (if applied in the general order), or 45 days (if applied as a matter of urgency). The residence permits to the aliens concerned and their family members are issued for a period of three years.
