Information on invitation letters for aliens

The Migration Department under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania does not confirm invitation letters to aliens.

The Migration Unit of Territorial Police Office deals with information on this issue and the confirmation of invitation letters (addresses, telephones, work hours).

A natural person shall submit a standard form application for confirmation of the invitation letter to the Migration Service, in the service territory of which he has declared place of residence.

A legal entity shall submit a standard form application for the confirmation of the invitation letter to the Migration Service, in the service territory of which there is the registration or residence place of this legal entity.

A natural person or a legal entity can fill in and submit an established form of an application to confirm an invitation having lodged in to the Information system of public services related to the issuance of identity and other documents, consulting, provided for the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania and aliens (https://epis.vrm.lt)

An invitation letter is confirmed within 3 working days, and costs 4,90 EUR.

A confirmed invitation letter shall confirm the obligations of a natural person or a legal entity, the branch or agency of a legal entity, registered  in the Register of Legal Entities (hereinafter – the legal entity):

  • to look to it that the alien who enters the Republic of Lithuania is properly accommodated (in the living space, where each adult person who declared place of residence in it, including the invited alien(s) is provided at least 14 square meters of useful space, or in a hotel, motel or in other accommodation provider) during his stay in the Republic of Lithuania while possessing a Schengen visa.
  • in case of need to cover the expenses of an alien’s return, expulsion or deportation to the country of origin or to a foreign country where he has the right to go.
