A legal entity‘s application for the confirmation of the invitation letter

An application to confirm an invitation on behalf of a legal person must be submitted by the head of the legal person or his/her authorised representative, who is related to this legal person by employment, or a natural person, who is a participant of the said legal person (hereinafter – authorised representative). The head or an authorised representative of a legal person refers to:

  • a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, an EU member state or a member state of the European Free Trade Association, who has declared his/her place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania;
  • a foreigner with a valid permanent residence permit and who has declared his/her place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania;
  • a foreigner, who has a temporary residence permit, issued in the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter – temporary residence permit) and has declared his/her place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania. The date of departure of the invited foreigner, indicated in the invitation, submitted by a foreigner on behalf of a legal person, cannot exceed the date of expiry of the inviting party's temporary residence permit.
  • a foreigner, who has a valid residence permit as a family member of an EU citizen, issued in the Republic of Lithuania, or a valid residence permit as a family member of an EU citizen, issued in another EU member state, and has declared his/her place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania.

The inviting party can submit the application to confirm the invitation not earlier than 6 months before the expected arrival of the foreigner.

A legal person can apply for the confirmation of an invitation only for a foreigner, who is a representative of a foreign economic entity, engaged in a business relation with the legal person. A legal person can submit no more than 50 applications to confirm an invitation in one calendar year. One application to confirm an invitation can be used only for one foreigner.

The inviting party can fill out and submit the application for the invitation confirmation by accessing the Information system of public services related to the issuance of personal and other documents, consulting services to citizens and foreigners in the Republic of Lithuania (https://epis.vrm.lt).

Decisions regarding the invitation confirmation or refusal to confirm are made at the Migration Unit of Territorial Police Office according to the location of the registered office of the inviting party.

The application to confirm an invitation must feature the following details:

  • the migration service, which received the application to confirm the invitation;
  • legal form and state of the legal person acting as the inviting party;
  • personal details of the head of the legal person acting as the inviting party or its authorised representative;
  • contact details of the inviting party;
  • title of the foreign economic entity, represented by the invited foreigner, and the foreigner's job title;
  • name(s) and surname (in Latin letters as in the valid travel document) of the invited foreigner, also his/her date of birth, gender, citizenship, country of birth, place of birth, country of residence, residential address, travel document type, series and number, also date of issue and expiry, as well as the state that has issued it;
  • the purpose of the foreigner's arrival, the expected dates of arrival and departure, as well as the expected number of days of the say in Lithuania;
  • the place that the invited foreigner will apply for a Schengen visa (Lithuanian Visa Service abroad, a consular office abroad or a diplomatic mission of another Schengen state, representing the Republic of Lithuania);
  • the expected place of residence of the foreigner in the Republic of Lithuania and its address.

Upon submitting the application to confirm the invitation, the inviting party must also submit a copy of the travel document of the invited foreigner.

The inviting party must ensure that the owner (co-owners) of the residential premises, where the foreigner will be accommodated, or his/her (their) authorised representatives confirm the agreement to accommodate the foreigner at the residential premises owned by the owner (co-owners) by the right of ownership in the e-services information system or provide a digital copy of the above-mentioned agreement, approved by the person, indicated in the articles No. 26, 27 or 271 of the Law on the Notariate of the Republic of Lithuania. If the inviting party is not the same as the owner of the residential premises, then the application to approve the invitation may be submitted only upon receiving the above-mentioned agreement of the owner (co-owners) of the residential premises or his/her (their) authorised representative.

The inviting party must also pay the state fee for the confirmation of the invitation. The state fee for the confirmation of the invitation is 4.9 Eur.

The decision regarding the confirmation of the invitation is processed in 3 working days since the day of the submission of the application to confirm the invitation.
