Illegal stay in the Republic of Lithuania

The stay of an alien in the Republic of Lithuania shall be controlled by the police, the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania in association with the state and municipal institutions and agencies of the Republic of Lithuania.

In accordance with the Republic of Lithuania Law on the Legal Status of Aliens, Article 23, the stay of an alien in the Republic of Lithuania shall be considered unlawful if the alien:

  1. has stayed in the Republic of Lithuania for a period exceeding the period of visa-free stay established for aliens in paragraphs 2, 4 and 5 of Article 11 of this Law;
  2. stays in theRepublicofLithuaniaafter the expiry of his visa;  
  3. stays in theRepublicofLithuaniaholding an annulled visa;  
  4. holds a forged travel document;  
  5. holds a forged visa;  
  6. stays in theRepublicofLithuaniawithout a visa if it is necessary to possess a visa;
  7. stays in theRepublicofLithuaniawithout a valid travel document, except for asylum applicants;
  8. has unlawfully entered theRepublicofLithuania.
