How long is a decision to issue a permanent residence permit to an alien valid?

The decision to issue a permanent residence permit to an alien is valid for six months from the day the decision is made.

During this period an alien may apply for execution of a permanent residence permit to a Migration Division of a Territorial Police Office, in whose service area (s)he has declared or intends to declare a place of residence or is registered as a person without a place of residence

In the case of illness or when there are other important circumstances that are beyond alien’s control, validity of the decision to issue a permanent residence permit can be extended, but not longer than for three months. In the case of illness or when there are other important circumstances that are beyond alien’s control, an alien shall submit an application to extend the validity period of a decision to issue a permanent residence permit (in this application there shall be indication of the important circumstances that are beyond alien’s control, because of which (s)he applied to extend the validity period of this decision) and documents supporting  this application directly to the Migration Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania or through a Migration Division of a Territorial Police Office.
